Welcome to Essentially French. We are Brendan and Susan, Australians with a passion for travel, restoration, and the beauty of old buildings that has led us on a remarkable journey spanning over three decades.

For the past 20 years, we've embarked on ambitious renovation projects throughout France and Italy, infusing new life into historic buildings steeped in character. Brendan's 38 years of architectural expertise, combined with my passion for preserving the stories within old structures, form the foundation of our shared vision.

Nestled in the heart of Mazan, our home serves as a welcoming retreat for guests eager to explore the authentic charm of Provence. Our expansive 13th-century stone home is a historical gem built over a network of mediaeval tunnels. Preserving much of its original character, we have lovingly restored each room which spans three levels. We offer a blend of antiquity and modern comfort. Our home features a large ground floor salon, a country kitchen, an extensive library, sunroom, and a picturesque courtyard. Bedrooms and suites are spread over the upper floors, ensuring complete privacy and space for guests. We have ensured our home has remained a perfect example of authentic Provencal architecture.

Our small group form a flexible five-night, six day escape in May or September, where we'll unveil the hidden treasures of Provence. From idyllic hilltop villages to renowned wineries, our intimate knowledge of the region ensures an unforgettable journey. No need to pack and unpack daily, our guests can make our home their home for the duration of the tour, ensuring a truly authentic experience.

Beyond hospitality, we take pride in our role as co-owners of a historic Chateau in the Loire Valley. Together with a global community of like-minded individuals, we're committed to preserving these architectural marvels for generations to come.
